Expanded PTFE Gasket suitable for virtually any industry, from the simplest to the most complex applications and environments. The unqiue material properties of Expanded PTFE allows for a strong, flexible material resistant to virtually all chemicals/corrosive media and withstands extreme temperatures and pressures.
PTFE gasket sheet is manufactured by expanding 100% virgin PTFE using a proprietary process that produces a uniform and highly fibrillated microstructure with equal tensile strength in all directions. The resulting product exhibits characteristics significantly different than conventional PTFE sheet.
Application:
Expanded PTFE sheet material is common for applications in the following industries:Distillers;Petrochemical;Food and Beverage;Pharmaceutical;General Chemical;Power Generation;Iron and Steel manufacturing;Pulp and Paper;Marine.
Advantages:
Universally employable gasket sheet for all applications. It is suitable for all types of flanges, nearly all media, a wide temperature range and for applications with the toughest demands on purity. It is inherently clean and non-toxic. Gaskets of multi-directionally expanded PTFE have exceptional mechanical strength which allows operation with minimal creep at elevated temperatures. The used gasket can be removed easily and without residue.
Material Properties
Expanded PTFE sheet is made of 100% pure PTFE, expanded via a unique process into a consistent, highly fibrillated structure. Upon compression, the fibrils lock together to form a strong, uniform material, impervious to gases and liquids.
It seals under extreme temperatures, pressures and against corrosive media, where conventional materials would break down. Even during application, the material is incredibly resistant to creep, relaxation and cold flow – issues which are often associated with other gasket materials, especially virgin or filled PTFE.
Operating throughout the pH range, resistant to thermal cycling, non-contaminating and FDA suitable and therefore can be used in any industry, sealing the simplest to the most difficult of gasket applications.
